HJ Galant LIP & Door Handles Respray.

An attempt to respray the front Lip & Door Handles as there was NO PAINT there....

Can of paint mixed to color, $30
Can of Clear Coat Gloss - $18
Roll Of Masking Tape - $5
Spray Trigger Thing - $4
TOTAL COST - $57

Steps:
1 . Wash car.
2. Mask up car to prevent overspray.
3. Sand back any shitty areas of paint to primer.
4. Spary 4 coats of paint 5-min intervals.
5. Spray 4 coats of clear 5 min intervals.
6. Sand back clear coat and buff to get it nice and shiny.

the door handles came out fkn awsome, i gave it a shot at saning it back with 2000 grit sand paper till all the high points were even with the lows then i polished like a mofo. iam very happy with it.

the front lip! well thats another story. there was a whole heap of clear running down the side of the lip, worked for 3 hours! with 2000 grit sand paper to get it all out then buffed and polished . looks respectable.. for amature spec spray back yard garage getto job.

its ok, i guess it will only get chipped up again.

The only mistake i made, was when using sand paper, make sure you have a CLEAN BUCKET AND CLEAN WATER!!!!!. my bucket had small pebel rocks in it.... they got stuck to the sand paper and yeah....... its not that bad.. only affected one side of the front lip.... the GOOD FKN SIDE! lol always always.

what grit sandpaper did you use to scuff? :S looks a bit smooooooooooth...

and yeah, all it needs is a little buff. acyclics actually get there shine FROM mechanical buffing, unlike the 2pac enamels on new cars (and my GTS) which get it chemically.

i used 2000 grit sand paper.....
the photo above are taken before i sanded it....

... i have a mechanical buffer....... all is gud.

Good job Omie and Zay, door handles look great. Front lips got proper paint on it too, with metallic and all. I bet the paint was really thin on it in the first place.

yeah with the HJ i think many have this same problem where the paint was thin around the door handles.
